Because of their style, relative affordability and durability, metal roofs are becoming a popular alternative to asphalt-shingle roofs. Architectural metal roofs in new-home construction reached a projected 30 percent of the market in 2007, up from 23 percent in 2004, according to the National Roofing Contractors Association.
