Real estate agents should consider social networking Web sites as a means of expanding their referral base beyond their family and friends, say many industry experts. For example, at LinkedIn.com, agents build a profile detailing their educational and professional achievements, and the site connects them to others with the same associations. By inviting new buyers and sellers to become members of the site, Realtors gain access to their network of friends. Additionally, they can ask clients to post testimonials or recommendations on their behalf, which also appear on the client's profile and can be viewed by the client's family and friends.
