YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE ‘PUSHY’

Veteran real estate coach Dr. Maya Bailey insists that one widespread belief in real estate is not correct – successful marketing does not require an aggressive and pushy attitude. Bailey encourages Realtors to view marketing as giving instead of taking. It’s important for Realtors to have an “elevator speech,” she says, and use it when asked what they do for a living. For instance, she recommends saying, “You know how most people get stressed out when they buy or sell a home? Well, my job is to help them relax and enjoy the process. I’m a real estate agent.” Additionally, Bailey suggests asking for permission to talk about services when making cold calls, offering lists of comparable sales or other useful information at the start of the conversation, and making an effort to forge relationships built on trust.
