5 TIPS TO COLD CALLS

Don't call them "cold calls." Call them "direct response calls." Real estate coach Dr. Maya Bailey says that the latter is a more appropriate term because the calls go out to leads and are not actually cold. Bailey underscores the importance of calling to provide a service rather than considering it a cold call - you give time and expertise to potential clients in the form of free comparative market analyses or other market information, rather than using the calls only as a means of selling services. Additionally, she says it's important for agents to get permission from the person they call before proceeding with their pitch, and they should concentrate on forging positive relationships from the calls. Finally, Bailey notes agents should not view "no" as a rejection of their services but as a "not now."
